I present to you the AWWA " White Elephant Sky Whale" concept. It is a concept of a large passenger jet powered by four hybrid jet engines. They are powered either by burning fuel or by the wind turbines mounted in the wings. Let me repeat that. The hybrid (fuel/electric) jet engines are powered by wind turbines in the wings.
/fuck thermodynamics, we're getting free energy
/physics, what the phuck is that?
/you aren't my mom, you can't tell me what to do

I hope we get a commenter who says "well the turbines work for producing electricity on land so it must work on this too and you're the idiot."

Also wow the way the wings are mounted are not the best of ideas. Sure looks neat though, would make a cool sci fi spaceship. This is why people trained only as designers shouldn't try to be engineers too.

I have a "General Physics Waiver Form" on my desk right now. Unfortunately, you have to file a separate form for each law of physics you would like to request a waiver from. The physics waiver red tape to build this plane will kill the project before it gets off the ground. Too bad conservation of energy is such a draaaag...

Damn thermodynamics, always messing up a good idea. Also "draaaag..." LOL.

So much is so wrong with that concept. Conservation of energy, energy density of its power sources, structural integrity... I can't even wrap my head around all the wrong going on here.

I want to see a copy of the physics waiver form. There must be one floating around your desk or the internet somewhere.

Yep. My favourite was the wings that are designed to tear off on an emergency landing. He thought of that yet has a front end on the plane more likely to dig into the ground than a normal plane. Also neglected to think the thinner wing mounts reduce surface area of the wing and therefore lift and may not even be possible to make strong enough.

Such a strange consideration.

This is like something a 12-year-old aspiring engineer would draw up.

An ocean liner sized airplane with pivoting engines is pretty much right in the wheelhouse of every 12 year old everywhere.

PLEASE PDF THIS*

I know lots of people who would like to submit this form to waive conservation of momentum. They really would like to fly aircraft in an unsafe manner, but until we waive that law, they can't.

*pdf or ban

I wish I could take credit for it, but I inherited it from an old engineer here. I refer to it almost every day!

Shit is classic. The engineer in me got all warm and fuzzy reading it.
